Anantnag, Sep 05 (KNO): Residents of Arwani area of Qaimoh medical block in South Kashmir have demanded staff and other facilities at NTPHC.
The residents told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that sub centre Arwani was upgraded to NTPHC a few years ago and even as a new building was constructed the centre faces staff shortage and lacks other facilities.
Irfan Ahmad, a local, said that just one MMPHW and one FMPHW are posted at the centre and it is functioning like a dispensary.
He said it lacks first aid.
He said that this centre witnesses rush on Wednesday for immunization purposes only and almost none visits the rest of the days.
Locals said that a big building for the centre has been constructed but it continues to function from old building with no facilities without immunization and first aid.
They said the government should equip the centre with facilities and post doctors here so that they aren't forced to other hospitals for even minor treatments.
"The Government must at least post a doctor there and shift the hospital to a new building besides that laboratory must be started so that locals of three villages including Arwani, Moman and Hassanpora with a population of around 10 thousand won't suffer anymore," they said.
Locals said that they have brought up the issue in the notice of higher ups many times but nothing happened.
They have sought attention of Director Health and other concerned authorities in this regard.
Meanwhile a health official told KNO that they have informed higher ups in this regard and they are hopeful that new posts will be sanctioned for the hospital.
He further added that minor works are yet to be carried out at new building after that hospital will start functioning there—(KNO)
